School let out in a whirlwind. It seemed like every day was either a school event or an appointment that required at least an hour’s drive. It’s amazing how much can get crammed in those last days of school!

Since then, we’ve been enjoying relaxing, sleeping in and having fun together!

Ha! Ha! None of that is true…

We’re up at the same time as the school year because of the chickens and swim team practice. The best time for practice is, apparently 8 am, every weekday.  We also have soccer practice in the afternoons. I’m putting more miles on the car during the summer than the whole school year! Plus, the local library has held several events for the kids over the last two weeks. I haven’t been able to see a single episode of the Price Is Right this summer. Toss in the x-box and my daughter building her own “office”, we hardly ever see each other!

I just finished a marathon jam making session. I also vacuum-packed several quarts of strawberries for cakes and smoothies in the winter. In a couple of weeks, the raspberries and huckleberries will be in season and I’ll start all over again. We will NOT be buying any jam this winter. My plan is to be canning a lot this summer and stock up for winter.

In the next couple of weeks, I’m hoping to get a few projects around the house completed. There’s so much I want to do, that it’s become a little paralyzing in trying to decide on what to tackle first. But, I’m determined to get them all done before school starts at the end of August. I’ll need to be doing a lot of planning this week! The first on the list is organizing the laundry room.
