We’re on vacation! Every year, we rent a cabin at the lake I spent my summers as a child. In fact, the cabin is directly across the lake from the lakehouse my grandparents owned. The cabin is part of a small, family-owned resort. There’s no tv and no cell phone service. Wifi only really works if you get up really early. But, if you do get up early, this is your view:
We will be fishing, playing games, painting, and roasting marshmallows! Without all the technology, it’s amazing how fast the kids return to being “kids”. They’ll make up elaborate games, build cities and dollhouses and get excited about otter-pops.
Why Rent A Cabin?
Renting a cabin is comfortable. We could camp (and we have) at the lake, but the cabin has a bathroom. Inside. I’m big on bathrooms being inside and not big on nighttime treks to the loo. Plus, the cabin comes furnished with a bed that is a hundred times more comfortable than the ground. I’m also big on comfy sleeping. All the outdoors you would get with camping and none of the aching muscles.
We will be bringing food… but the kids are hoping for lots of fish. I get to clean them and cook them. Yay.
