Mother’s Day is just around the corner. A quick look at Pinterest shows that projects for Mother’s Day gifts and projects are already trending. Those handmade gifts so cute! Really. I treasure them.

You know what else I like? Things I want, but I wouldn’t buy myself because I’m too busy spending money on my family. Isn’t that what most moms do?

Mother’s Day Gifts for Gardening Moms

Solar Water Foutain. This is little fountain is great! You can simply place it in a bowl of water or birdbath in the yard and let it go. No hoses to hook up to battery packs or “artfully arranged” rock piles to hide the pump mechanism. It takes about a day to fully charge, but it’s a great addition to any garden!

The Cultivator Claw is really nice for gardeners who want to save their nails. It works as a cultivator and also weeder or really, anything for digging in the dirt where fingers would easier to use. They’re helpful for container gardens as well.

I know I’ve talked about tackling the blackberry bushes, but this yard also has a variety of ornamental bushes too! Most of them are a bushy mess. Several years ago, I purchased a set of Fiskars Pruning Shears.I lost them one day and tried to replace them. Sadly, Fiskar move manufacturing to China and the quality went way down. I decided to try these trimming shears because of a lightning sale. These lived up to the overwhelmingly positive reviews. They stay sharp, cut through fairly thick branches and are just all around handy.

Mother’s Day Gifts for Baking Moms

I’m a huge fan of The Great British Baking Show (Season 5 starts on June 22) on PBS. If you or your mom is a fan, you might want to send off for one of the baking cookbooks written by the judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.

If you’ve seen the show, you know Mary Berry is worshiped in the UK. The show’s contestants are always agog when she first walks into the tent. It’s pretty obvious from her comments on the show that she knows what she’s talking about. Her Baking Bible has pretty much every type of baking recipes included AND a section on baking with children.

Paul’s book, How to Bake, is heavy on bread making. Any show fan will tell you that he’s very, very particular on how the bread dough is made, what ingredients are put in it and how those ingredients work with dough. Just watching him, I learned the correct way to put fruit into a yeast dough.  There are also sections on cakes, pies, and puddings – the European kind, not American.

If your mom is a real fan, then The Great British Bake Off – How to Bake, is for them! It walks the reader through each of the challenges from the show, with how-to’s, tips and tricks on perfecting your baking – from beginner to advanced. The perfect Victoria Sponge? Swoon! It also includes the recipes used by contestants on the show. Lots of British recipes for those Anglophile Moms! Pasties and Tea biscuits, yummy.

Unique Gifts for Eclectic Moms

I couldn’t resist this one. It’s the cutest coffee/tea pot, I’ve seen in a while. I’m really hoping that someone will buy it for me for Mother’s Day. I don’t have a lot of decorative serving ware, but I do like to collect eclectic pieces. It’s not just cute, it’ll also add a great bit of color to my kitchen!

I broke down and bought the Echo Dot over Christmas. Yes, I fell prey to the near-constant advertising pressure. However, this time, it was worth it! I love this thing – while I’m in the kitchen I listen to the new, to radio stations, and love the list making function. I am an Amazon addict and they make my life so much easier. Did I mention that it reminds me of various things every morning as we’re running out the door? It’s like another brain.

A few years ago, I went to one of those farm-house-craft-selling-out-in-a-field festivals and found this lady demonstrating this wonderful sugar scrub. Totally organic, with real ingredients you can easily pronounce. A natural exfoliator that fully moisturizes at the same time. It leaves skin silky smooth like no other product I’ve ever tried.

Whatever you choose to do your mom (or yourself), remember it’s the recognition of Mom that is the most important. Let your mom know that she is appreciated and she rocks!

    1. If she likes to sit out in the garden, definitely look at the solar fountain. It’s so easy to set up and incredibly peaceful. I LOVE mine!
