blogger questions and answers for hedgetoadcottage.com

I’ve been writing this for a few months now, so I thought to do something that gave you a little more insight into who I am by answering a few questions. If this is the first time you’ve visited, you can also read my “About Me” page!  On with the questions!

When was the last time you cried?

This morning. I was reading about Twitter user @GaryScribbler who draws illustrations to document life after the loss of his wife to Sepsis. The illustrations are so touching. While they are helping him deal with his loss, he’s also wanting to spread awareness about Sepsis and how fast it can become fatal. He also shared an info-graphic about the warning signs.

If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

Totally! I’m hysterical, with a dry sense of humor. Also, I’ll always run to the store for you if you sick.

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Is the Pope a Catholic? It’s my most fluent language.

What’s the first thing you notice about a person?

Their hair. I don’t know why, but I am always looking for cool new hairstyles. Also, I would love to dye my hair a super fun color, but I can’t because of my job. It’s a bit traditional and galaxy hair just isn’t accepted.

Scary movies or happy endings?

Happy endings all the way. I abhor scary movies, especially after having kids. I just can’t do it. I can, however, watch back to back Lifetime Christmas movies for days on end.

What’s the furthest you’ve been from home?

I had to use google maps to figure out this one. Mt Kosciuszko in Australia. It’s really beautiful there as was pretty much everywhere I went in Australia. I can’t wait to take the kids there someday!

Do you have any special talents?

I don’t think I have any special talents, but I do work on developing my artistic skills as much as I can. I teach art in a high school, so I get an opportunity to share those skills with students. Many of them are very talented, so I have to work hard to keep up with them. I love to paint using watercolors and pottery. I wish I could sketch better, but I plan on working on this summer.

Perhaps my special talent is learning?

Where were you born?

Spokane, WA. I’m the 5th generation born there. I spent many 4th’s of July on the lawn below this clock tower watching fireworks with my friend Donna and her family. Great times!

spokane, wa

What are your hobbies?

Where to start? I paint watercolors and do some pottery when I can. I also do crochet. I also spend a lot of time blogging! Although, I’m not sure I would totally put in in the hobby category. I hope that one day I will be able to make it my full-time job! Right now, I’m doing a lot of learning!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

In high school, I wanted to be a lawyer. The fact that LA Law as one of the most popular shows on TV at the time may have had something to do with it. Especially since I also wanted to live in California. During college, I flirted with a lot of ideas, but eventually, I went back to the job I wanted when I was 6; an art teacher!

How many countries have you been to?

Let’s see: Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Tahiti, England, Sweden and Canada.  I would love to see more of Europe and I’m in the planning stages of taking a trip to Greece!

What was your favorite/worst subject in school?

My favorite subject in high school was English. I love to read! And, obviously, I love to write. I even liked learning vocabulary.  Math, on the other hand, was my worst subject. I understand it, but every single time I went to do the problems or test I would invariably make mistakes.

What is your favorite drink?

A Traffic Light! It’s a RedBull Spritzer with Kiwi, Mango and Pomegranate flavors. So yummy!

Who are some of your favorite YouTubers?

I really like Suzy from StartAMomBlog.com, Not a Farm Girl, and Kelli Miller’s Learn to Blog Hangouts.

Favorite memory from childhood?

When I was young, we had horses. I called my horse Black Beauty (after the book, of course!) and taught her to “hug me”. It was the greatest hug ever!

How would you describe your fashion sense?

Currently, I would describe it as comfortable! I have to wear “teacher” clothes for work, so when I’m at home, I want to be as comfortable as possible. And in the PNW, that also means layers. So far today, it’s been cold and windy, then raining and now it’s sunny. Layers are a necessity.

Tell us one of your bad habits…

Piling things up in the passenger seat of the car. We’re pretty busy and it seems like a good place to store some the things we need for various activities we need to do. Or snacks. Or a soccer ball. You know, the necessities. I also have a huge love of anything bread… my hips do not.
